The title Lost Property refers to the authors personal experience of transition and loss. The Germany-based filmmaker, appearing as his own protagonist, returns to his hometown Hong Kong. As he visits familiar places and catches up with his family and old friends, he discovers some of his longest-held memories to be false. His quest to buy a specimen of the rare blind cave fish he once owned, becomes emblematic of something more: the fleeting and deceptive nature of memory.
