PR 31.01.2019: Meet the German Short Film Scene at the Berlinale!
The Berlin International Film Festival (7-17 February 2019) will show more than 30 German short films in five festival sections and special programmes. Their diversity ranges from experimental documentaries to fiction and animated films to the German short film avant-garde. AG Kurzfilm also presents German short films and advises filmmakers and representatives of the film industry at the Berlinale's European Film Market (EFM). Among other things, the association will present its current catalogue "German Short Films 2019".
German short films are again represented in large numbers at this year's Berlinale. The short film competition Berlinale Shorts has selected six German productions and co-productions: BLUE BOY by Manuel Abramovich (AR/DE), FLEXIBLE BODIES by Louis Fried, UMBRA by Florian Fischer and Johannes Krell, CAN'T YOU SEE THEM? - REPEAT. by Clarissa Thieme (DE/BA), IT HAS TO BE LIVED ONCE AND DREAMED TWICE by Rainer Kohlberger (AT/DE) and WELT AN BORD by Eva Könnemann.
The section Generation Kplus shows with ARMED LULLABY by Yana Ugrekhelidze, CITY PLAZA HOTEL by Anna Paula Hönig and Violeta Paus as well as NEST by Sonja Rohleder three current German short films.
The German short film OFF SEASON by Henning Beckhoff will be screened in the Perspektive deutsches Kino section. The other sections of the official programme will also feature numerous German short films, such as seven in Forum Expanded and Forum Expanded Exhibition. The retrospective will dedicate two programmes with a total of ten short films to topics such as "Work and Everyday Life" and "Body and Space". The Berlinale Talents also presents a compilation of current German short film productions.
On Saturday, 9 February 2019, the winners and nominees of the German Short Film Award 2018 will also be presented to cinema operators at an industry event of the KURZ.FILM.TOUR 2019 as part of the AG Kino Gilde-Screenings in den Hackesche Höfe Kinos.
At the European Film Market of the Berlinale, German short film productions will be shown as part of the market screening "Hessen Talents 2019". On the other hand, three more German short film productions can be seen in individual market screenings.

The AG Kurzfilm - Bundesverband Deutscher Kurzfilm is once again a partner of the Short Film Station at the 69th Berlinale. As part of the Berlinale Talents, it supports participants in networking with curators, programme designers and filmmakers from the German short film scene.
Under the umbrella of German Films, AG Kurzfilm's stand at the European Film Market provides a meeting point as well as information and contacts on all aspects of German short film for industry representatives such as filmmakers, producers, distributors and festivals. In addition, the short film catalogue "German Short Films 2019" will have its German premiere on the film market. It presents 100 of the most interesting current German short film productions and, with its extensive service section, represents a sought-after information medium. The current preview DVDs "German Short Films" and "German Short Films - Children and Youth Edition" are also available. Also available is the coveted festival calendar published by AG Kurzfilm, which provides a compact overview of important national and international festival dates and deadlines for 2019.
