PR 07.04.2022: Anniversary AG Kurzfilm @ International Short Film Festival Oberhausen: Short Film at School / Emerging Artists
The AG Kurzfilm - German Short Film Association is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year! In the anniversary year 2022, many exciting special events around the German short film are planned throughout Germany, both for the industry and for the audience.
The kick-off will take place at the 68th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen (30.4.-9.5.2022), where it all began 20 years ago, on 05 May 2002. With the founding of the German Short Film Association as a lobby for German short film at home and abroad, an important alliance of the German film scene was created.
In terms of film policy, the AG Kurzfilm - German Short Film Association intends to address a special focus in its 2022 anniversary program: Short Film and School - Potentials and Limitations in Working with Short Film in Schools.
Under the title "Short Film in Schools is Feasible - Site Assessments and Paths to the Goal", a public discussion will take place on Thursday, 05 May at 12:30 pm in the Festival Space opposite the Lichtburg cinema in Oberhausen. Participation is possible without accreditation.
Although there are already many positive experiences for the use of short films in teaching contexts, the short film as a special cinematic form remains largely unmentioned in the educational curricula of the states. Yet it offers an opportunity for creative impulses in schools. Together with experts from the film and school context, the panel will look at the existing infrastructure and discuss the potentials and limitations of short film in schools.
"We know that students quickly get excited about the short form and, upon close and repeated viewing, discover particularities of cinematic work that are not present in their everyday media fare. Making such experiences possible is actually the most important reason why short film and school belong together," says Jana Cernik, managing director of AG Kurzfilm e.V.
Stakeholders from the school context are cordially invited to contribute their personal perspectives to the discussion in a fishbowl format.
Afterwards, the current edition of the short film program EMERGING ARTISTS will be screened at Kino Lichtburg on Thursday, May 5 at 2:45 pm. AG Kurzfilm and German Films present with "Emerging Artists - Contemporary Experimental Films and Video Art from Germany" every two years since 2013 a program with short, experimental works of young emerging artists* and want to promote strongly artistic film and video art works, which can be evaluated not only at festivals, but also through the art market in museums, galleries.
