Summer 1983, GDR: Uwe, a parish priest from Mecklenburg, dares to openly express his ideals of freedom - and increasingly jeopardises his family and himself by doing so. When his wife breaks down under pressure from the communist state, Uwe has to face a conflict that will prove to be a crucial test for the whole family.
