Trainee teacher Daniel Weidner returns to his former school to take up a position as a teacher. Upon his return, he meets his former teacher who inspired him very much, only to realise that he has become a bitter, cynical old man who has grown tired of life. Even the events at home with his parents deprive Daniel of a warm homecoming experience.
