Klaus is an actor desperately seeking the chance to express himself. He leaves the town and takes refuge in a barn which he turns into his own stage. Angered by the intruders behaviour, the farmer throws him off his land. Time and again, Klaus finds himself caught in situations in which he lays himself bare. Finally, his odyssey leads him to a real stage but even here his desire for self-expression and self-abandonment remains unfulfilled.
