Damascus, spring 2013. The Syrian soldier Husam is visiting his family and enjoying his mother's company and food. But he has to get rid of something. He wants to tell his mother what he really feels: The people he is fighting for are corrupt and criminals. He is afraid of death and wants to escape military service. But his mother insists on portraying him as a hero fighting for his country and his family's honor.

Syrian-born Ghiath Al Mhitawi completed his theater studies at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, Damascus, in 2011. In 2015 his first play THE FINAL RETURN was performed at the Royal Court Theatre in London. He has studied screenwriting at the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF since 2019.
