What happens when family structures become alliances? Dêrsim, a refuge for Kurds and Alevis in Eastern Anatolia, has been marked by hegemonic violence for centuries. The return of a stepfather and daughter brings back repressed memories from childhood and the diaspora – between trauma, identity, and a new solidarity.
Eva Świątkowski was born in Wiesbaden, Germany. She studied art, German, and gender studies, followed by work in the field of art education, including at documenta fifteen. Since 2022, she has studied at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, focussing on documentary work in the moving image and photography.
