Moving between magical realism, performance, and documentary, SCATTERED SEA explores how people connect across borders in a diverse world marked by entangled traumas, fractured presents, power imbalances, and longing for belonging. 17 performers from North Africa and Europe form hybrid spaces, decolonial imaginaries for plural futures, as a new island emerges on the sea. Filmed in Morocco, Malta, and Germany, this triangle mirrors colonial layers and frictions between Europe and the MENA region.
Lia Sáile, born 1985, is an interdisciplinary artist working with film, installation, performance, and site-specific interventions. Her practice explores borders, transitions, and belonging, creating speculative imaginaries and spaces of plural coexistence. Her works are shown internationally.
