DISPLACED IN TIME traces an Iranian family scattered across decades and borders, where home has become a distant memory held in fragments. Hi8 footage of a childhood in Japan, Nowruz rituals shared across screens, and dreams of vanished rooms form a diasporic mosaic that resists the wreckage of exile. This essay film ultimately reflects on how displacement shapes not only where we live, but also how we inhabit time itself - where we can only truly meet within the fragile borders of an image.
Pariya Bakhshi, born 1997 in Hiroshima and raised in Iran, studied design in Tehran and film at the KHM Cologne. Pariya moves between documentary, fiction, and experimental forms, exploring memory, freedom, and exile - often with dancers in surreal, bodily-focused film worlds that break societal and medial borders.
