It must have been his drive to shun any form of categorization that motivated the Lower-Bavarian acting eccentric Alfred Edel (1932-1993). Alexander Kluge first discovered him for YESTERDAY GIRL (1966). He subsequently rose to become a sought-after actor in the New German Cinema movement of the 1970s and '80s, playing curious supporting roles in films by Werner Herzog, Roland Klick, Hans-Jürgen Syberberg, Monika Treut, Herbert Achternbusch, Straub/Huillet, and Christoph Schlingensief.

Jan Soldat
Jan Soldat, born 1984 in Karl-Marx-Stadt (now Chemnitz), former GDR. From 2008 to 2014 he studied directing at the Academy for Film and Television KONRAD WOLF in Potsdam. His more than 90 filmic and mostly documentary works deal with the representability of diverse sexual practices and preferences.
