71 year-old Hakie is a sworn virgin, a "Burrnesha". She leads "the life of a man" with great determination. Her daily routine in the Albanian Alps allows us to see how the category "gender" is very much a social construct.
The filmmaker and artist Anabela Angelovska lives and works in Hamburg. Since 2005 she has lectured at art academies and universities. Her films and video installations have been presented in art institutions and at film festivals. HAKIE-HAKI. and RETREAT both premiered at the Berlinale and screened internationally.
