As a self-experiment, two sound artists play and listen into the large hole of the Garzweiler open-cast mine. The camera observes the conflict at the hole, looking at and listening to it. All attempts to alleviate or stop the wounding of the landscape seem fragile, helpless, and perhaps even futile.

Frauke Berg is a visual artist and musician. Numerous performances, radio works, animations, and installations have been created by her in various collaborations and contexts. As the initiator of the Hallraum project, she invites artists to work at the interface between music and visual art.

Oliver Gather lives and works in Düsseldorf. From 1985 to 1991 he studied sculpture at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf art school and he has since realized numerous installative, performative and filmic projects in urban and rural spaces.
