A look back at the colonial history of the Botanical Garden in Berlin-Dahlem combined with images of contemporary visions of the future: While colonial plant collections from the late 19th century tell of the categorization and domination of the "other", in this climate disaster era, notions of gardens expanding into space soothe fears about the limits of late capitalist civilizations and the impending catastrophe.

Max Hilsamer is a filmmaker and media artist. He studied at the Berlin University of the Arts and at Parsons, the New School, New York. His films have been shown at DOK Leipzig and FILE Sao Paulo, and his installations in exhibitions at Frontviews, Galerie Bernau, Display, Berlin;

Anna Lauenstein is a filmmaker, artist, and cultural anthropologist. She grew up in Chemnitz and Leipzig and lives in Berlin. Her work has been shown at DOK Leipzig and at frontviews, Galerie Bernau, Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien and BWA Gallery in Wrocław. She teaches at the University of the Arts in Berlin.
