shortfilm.de
Even though there will be no new articles at the moment, shortfilm.de will continue to feature numerous articles on the international short film scene. Interviews and profiles of filmmakers, podcasts, festival spotlights, practical tips, and reports will remain online permanently, making the magazine a lasting resource for anyone interested in short films.
The bilingual online short film magazine shortfilm.de and we have been (co-)running it as AG Kurzfilm since 2004 until 2024 despite years of underfunding in the cultural sector. It was an information and service portal for almost 25 years.
In 2025, we are confronted with cutbacks in the cultural budget of the city of Dresden (where the AG Kurzfilm office is based) and must therefore come to the conclusion: The insufficient funding makes fair payments for authors and translators impossible. From now on, there will therefore be no more articles on shortfilm.de. The magazine will be cancelled. Festival dates and deadlines will continue to be updated regularly.
In times when cultural institutions and projects throughout Germany are facing cutbacks, it is all the more important to organise in alliances. In Dresden, as part of the Netzwerk Kultur Dresden, we are working together with over 90 independent cultural institutions and initiatives as well as individuals to strengthen independent culture - for better working conditions, more transparency in cultural policy and cultural diversity. Because:Democracy needs culture! Further information only in German: www.netzwerk-kultur-dresden.de
