Wise and friendly Babushka Vera is the hero of this documentary fairytale. She lives in a remote village of fifty-three souls in western Belarus. Like all the old grannies there, she lost her husband a long time ago. Now she leads a life on her own, feeding geese, baking bread and distilling her own schnaps.
