The GERMAN SHORT FILMS Catalogue is a database for German short films. It offers a curated selection of German short films, serving both as a research tool and a viewing platform. The catalogue sees itself as an important instrument for the promotion and dissemination of German short films in Germany and abroad. Its aim is to facilitate access to high-quality short film productions and to strengthen the international visibility of German short films. The catalogue now contains more than 2,000 films, all of which have been included since 2004.

The Short Film Catalogue is updated with new films three times a year. The update schedule follows the international film markets in Clermont-Ferrand and Berlin (February), Cannes and Annecy (May), and Leipzig (October), and is tied to presenting the current selection on-site at these events. Around 100 new films are added each year.

Only members of AG Kurzfilm are eligible to propose films for the Short Film Catalogue.

The data and information about the films are publicly accessible.

However, viewing the short films themselves is reserved for members of the film industry (such as curators, festival representatives, cinema operators, journalists, distributors, film buyers, etc.).

In addition, a smaller portion of the catalogue is available for viewing by representatives from the education sector—for example, media educators, subject teachers, and lecturers at both schools and higher education institutions who wish to use films for educational purposes in classes, courses, or lectures. Access is intended exclusively for research purposes. Screenings (including in the classroom) require obtaining rights from the respective rights holders.

Unfortunately, we cannot grant preview access for private research or other purposes.
