Papillon, aka M49, is a brown bear that is getting too close to people in the Mocheni valley in northern Italy. A problem bear. And a projection. Night-vision cameras are still the most reliable eyewitnesses to its existence. Alice, a biologist, sets off on its trail, and with her the movie. PAPILLON tells the final stages of an escape.

Francesca Bertin
Francesca Bertin, a Hamburg-based filmmaker and artist, holds an MA Film (Academy of Fine Arts Hamburg) and an MA Law (University of Trento). Her work explores identity, memory, and space through a documentary lens. Her films have been shown internationally in festivals and galleries.
