Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival 2018
Report by Giuseppe Boccassini (DEBRIS)
Alchemy Film & moving Image Festival is held in Hawick, a small scottish town near Edinburgh, on the border with England. This logistical aspect needs doubtless to be stressed, especially compared with the massive number of audience which constantly filled in its space.
In this regard the full program, which runs from 10 o’clock in the morning till almost midnight, including curated programs of short and mid length films, art gallery tours, special screenings presented by guests curators, workshops, lectures and so on. The variety of its cultural activities and the nearness between spaces is rendering the atmosphere uniquely inclusive while allowing directors to easily get to know each other just as much as producers, curators, guests and festival’ folks.
The screenings and the Q&As were also very professional: one can properly present his work, talk with the audience as well as open up debates and discussions around nowadays’ imagery contents.
