The Berlin International Film Festival (February 20-29, 2020) will once again be showing numerous German short films in its various festival sections and special programmes. Their diversity ranges from experimental documentaries to fiction and animation films and the German short film avant-garde. Furthermore, AG Kurzfilm presents German short films and advises filmmakers and representatives of the film industry at the Berlinale's European Film Market (EFM). Among other things, the association presents its current catalogue "German Short Films 2020" there.
German short films are again represented in large numbers at this year's Berlinale. The Berlinale Shorts
short film competition has selected three German productions and co-productions: A DEMONSTRATION by Sasha Litvintseva and Beny Wagner (DE/NL/UK), INFLORESCENCE by Nicolaas Schmidt and, out of competition, VEITSTANZ/FEIXTANZ by Gabriele Stölzner from 1988.
The section Generation Kplus
shows with MISHOU by Milen Vitanov a humorous animated German-Bulgarian co-production.
In the Forum Expanded
section UNTITLED SEQUENCE OF GAPS by Vika Kirchenbauer, IMAGINARY EXPLOSIONS, EPISODE 2, CHAITÉN by Caitlin Berrigan and QUANTUM CREOLE by Filipa César will be shown. For its 50th anniversary programme, the Forum
has also selected the short feature film EINE PRÄMIE FÜR IRENE by Helke Sander from 1971.
On Sunday, February 23, 2020, the winners and nominees of the German Short Film Award 2019 will also be presented to cinema operators at an industry event of the KURZ.FILM.TOUR. 2020
in the Hackesche Höfe cinemas as part of the AG Kino Gilde screenings.
At the Berlinale's European Film Market, German short film productions will be screened as part of the market screening
"Hessen Talents 2020". On the other hand, seven other German short film productions will be shown in individual market screenings.

At the 70th Berlinale, AG Kurzfilm - Bundesverband Deutscher Kurzfilm is once again a partner of the Short Form Station
and supports participants in networking with curators, programme makers and filmmakers on the German short film scene.

offers a meeting place for industry representatives such as filmmakers, producers, distributors and festivals and provides information and contacts on all aspects of German short film.
